LINZER-BETT

The Linzer-Bett project arose from a specific brief from a client to develop a space-saving yet high-quality sleeping solution for a newly renovated city flat in Linz.

The innovation of the project lies in the development of a modular sleeping unit that goes beyond the traditional function of a bed and acts as an architectural element within the room. Integrated bedside tables, generous storage space beneath the sleeping surface and side-access doors combine to create a piece of furniture that can be used both functionally and to define the space.

The Linzer-Bett is conceived as a hybrid system between furniture and interior design. It enables the efficient use of limited living space whilst simultaneously creating a clear design identity for the room.

The Linzer-Bett epitomises contemporary Viennese design, combining traditional craftsmanship with digital design and making a conscious choice to use sustainable materials.

The project thus represents a new approach to conceiving of furniture as an integral part of spatial organisation and opens up new possibilities for the design of compact urban living spaces.
